The rule of thumb in bending pipe is that the radius of the bend will equal the outside diameter of the pipe.

Use the formula:- Difference in lengths = π 2 x external diameter of pipe

π ÷2 = 3.142 2 = 1.571

Internal diameter of pipe = 4.5” and wall thickness = 0.355”

External diameter of pipe = 4.5 + 0.355 + 0.355 = 5.21 inches

Difference in lengths (A-B to C-D) = 1.571 x 5.21
Difference in lengths = 8.184 inches
