1. A It is solely the chief engineer's responsibility to ensure all safety precautions are observed, and all entries are to be made in the engine room log.
2. B Repairs should proceed as scheduled since a chemist's certificate is not required for that type of work.
3. C The repair work cannot be done at this time due to the lack of the chemist's certificate.
4. D Prior to any hot-work, an inspection must be made by the senior officer present, and an entry made in the official logbook.
