1. A The lock ring insures proper contact between the bowl top and the sliding bowl bottom, in addition to compressing the disc stack.
2. B The lock ring forces the disc stack onto the spindle, providing a positive means of rotation and locating the bowl top to seal the separation chamber.
3. C When tightened, the lock ring allows for movement of the sliding piston and positions the sliding piston within the bowl bottom.
4. D The lock ring insures proper positioning of the disc stack and maintains a positive contact of the bowl top and bowl bottom.
