1. A The valve reduces the high pressure in the bottle to about 3 psi above atmospheric pressure.
2. B When pressure in the apparatus exceeds 7 psi above atmospheric pressure, the valve opens to release pressure.
3. C In the event of a malfunction in the equipment, the valve can be operated manually to give the wearer air.
4. D The valve opens in excessive heat to release the oxygen in the bottle and prevent the bottle from exploding.
