1. A They should be painted a contrasting color from the base color in order to call attention to the gearing
2. B They should have a guard over the gearing
3. C They should not be operated if there is any crew within 10 feet of the machinery
4. D They should be open to view so, if a foreign object gets in the gearing, the operator can immediately stop the machinery
