1. A Distress alerts may be used to alert other vessels, including those in port, of existing weather warnings.
2. B Information contained in a distress alert includes the name and position of the distressed vessel, and may include additional information such as the nature of the situation and what kind of assistance that may be required.
3. C Distress alerts may be used to alert other vessels, including those in port, of existing navigational hazards.
4. D A vessel in the vicinity of a distress situation may leave the area without notifying the RCC that is overseeing the operation.
