At 1.5 miles, it could be possible that the other vessels intentions are not clear. If they are not clear, the danger signal would be appropriate. 1.5 miles ahead and to port of an aircraft carrier or fast moving oil tanker is not the right place to be. There are situations where a danger signal could be appropriate here.
