Answer is incorrect .. Rule 37 states that the only Flags for distress are Orange background with Black Ball and Black Square, Code flags November and Charlie flown together or Square Black Flag and Black Ball flown together.
fi fishboy96 · Nov 17, 2016
this isnt correct... as stated above charlie november flown together or orange background black ball and black square...

This is CORRECT! one of the signals in rule 37 is a SQUARE FLAG AND BALL ... Since it does not specify which flag or colors, when in distress in the absence of a better signal, and flag above any color ball will do.
Ca Captron · May 3, 2017
This is not shown as an alternative option in the navigation rules and regulations handbook. Balloney question.
Sh Shakaree · Dec 17, 2018
This is a poor question. In the Nav Rules and Regulations Handbook, in the distress signals chart - it only shows a black flag with a ball underneath. It doesn't say anything about "LIMA". This is simply a question to memorize.

This is CORRECT! in Annex IV 1.(g) it states a "Square Flag above or Below a Ball" or anything resembling a ball. Since it does not specify which flag or ball color, when in distress, go with what you have.
