Somebody has got to help me figure this out. Why is it an overtaking situation?

Think about it, SeaRay28--- If a vessel came upon you from 235° that would be within the range of your stern light only. Your sidelights have a range of 112.5° on either side of the bow, so the other vessel would not yet be able to see either of them. Therefore it's an "overtaking", rather than a "meeting" or "crossing" situation.

Thank you.

No such thing as a passing either.
