It doesn't matter. Picture yourself standing dead center on the compass rose of a chart looking "due east." The only way you would see a vessels starboard sidelight is if they have a heading of 270 thru 157.5

WBIRCH, I get these questions wrong every single time. I KNOW which side the red and green side lights are on. I draw arrows indicating each possible answer and still get them wrong. I think your comment might have helped me. Thanks

One of my classmates had a hard time with this question. An important thing to remember is east is not a relative bearing. East is always east regardless of what direction you are traveling.

I really struggled with these. DRAW THEM OUT.
I cant stress that enough. draw the compass rose and your boat, then the light it states.
draw yourself with a beer in your hand on your boat it that helps.
