A is incorrect. The correct answer is C

Because the vessel is >100m a bell and gong is required along with three strokes of the bell after the 5 second rapid ringing (before and after). This is in rule 35(h) and 35(g)

"Optional" implies that it may be used - under some circumstances. A better way to phrase this is "Which signal is not required?"
