length of tow is below 200 meters, the tug should only have to have two masthead lights. And it is exempt from rule 23 a (ii) by nature of being a towing vessel.

I agree, so the answer should be B? Although an additional after-masthead light is optional, thus C is possible too.
jl jlcarlson08 · Oct 20, 2015 8:05pm
Rule 24d requires towing vessels from 24a or 24c to also exhibit the after masthead light referred to in 23b(ii) for towing vessels over 50m. The only answer possible is C.

C? No yellow towing light? or is this a matter or perspective?

Fastmover, look at the alignment of the sidelights...you are seeing them from ahead so the towing lights will not be visible.

Isn't the height of the top(masthead) white light is misleading, shouldn't it be spaced higher than and not equal to the spacing of the lower two white lights?

Agree with Jeremy. Length of tow is below 200 meters. The tug should only have two masthead lights.

But the tug is greater then 50m therefore needs addition masthead light abaft and higher. If the tug was 40m and tow < 200m then would be two masthead lights
Mr Mrx6m · Nov 12, 2020 12:39am
I agree this should be. - >200 meters would be 3 masthead lights....
